Server maintenance, Software, Web and System development (IT)

A large part of the Informatics unit work is dedicated to providing the infrastructure needed to work with modern population genetics and data generated using modern sequencing or chip technologies. The storage and calculation capacities of our servers have increased tremendously over the past few years and today LUDC researchers have the capacity to work with very large datasets generated from different experiments and platforms such as modern sequencing, GWAS genotyping, mRNA expression, epigenetic data and ChIP-on-chip.

The Informatics Unit has also developed and is responsible for the maintenance of research registries such as ANDiS, DIREVA and ANDiU and for storage and access to data generated by the Human Tissue Laboratory. Most of the LUDC/EXODIAB related web sites have been designed by our IT people.

We are also in the process of initiating a LIMS system that, amongst many things, will facilitate information management for the lab.
